NEW BUSINESS SHOUT OUT!

🎤 Mobile Podcast Van: The Wel Podcast Studio

Over the years, I have hosted hundreds of podcasts and my journey began with Keith Easton at The Wel Podcast Studio at Hillend.

I have thoroughly enjoyed watching the studio evolve over the years! Their latest awesome project is launching a mobile podcasting service in a luxury VW Camper and this week I was delighted to be invited along for a chat.

The Wel Podcast Studio is a family business run by brothers, Graeme and Keith Easton. They provide live commentary, announcing, music and event management at a variety of high-profile events along with audio and podcasting services.

This new VW mobile studio is a brilliant way to record at events, festivals and on location.

Take the studio to your guests or capture real emotion live at weddings and/or any special occasion where precious memories are made and then able to be treasured forever.

Contact Keith directly to find out more about costs and how to plan and maximise on your next event.

🛍️ Destined for Home is on the move

Instagram post
🚚 From Leith to Gullane and the East Lothian coast

I spotted Karen's recent post about the drop in online sales since her shop on Constitution Street in Leith closed, so I headed to Gullane and surprised her at her new shop on the Main Street.

Karen is in the middle of relocating Destined for Home from Leith to Gullane in East Lothian and right now, online sales are what's keeping the business going through the move.

If you've ever visited the shop on Constitution Street, you'll know exactly what Karen has built. Beautiful crafts and homeware, thoughtfully chosen and genuinely special.

The kind of independent shop that takes years to get right.

She needs your support. If you have a birthday or need for any special gifts, a visit to her website would be greatly appreciated by Karen. Even something small makes a difference during a move like this. 🧡

You can also follow along on Instagram for the full relocation story. The refurb, the good days and the tough ones. It's all worth following. A prime example of where hard graft and a great mindset can get you.

🛠️ How well do you know your independent shops?

Take a look at the picture below.

🎨 A Hidden Gem in Midlothian - Ella Fletcher Designs

Meet Ella. A potter who started throwing clay in Edinburgh in 2018 and hasn't looked back since.

Ella makes colourful handmade ceramics from a beautiful converted hay barn at Rosemains Steading in Pathhead, Midlothian. Mugs, bowls, vases and more recently her stunning new signature lamp collection. All wheel thrown by hand, glazed and fired in small batches. Bold colours, striking design and made to be used every single day.

Ella’s work is inspired by the natural, wild and beautiful Scottish landscapes. Her home was a finalist for Scotland's Home of the Year in 2022. The National Trust for Scotland stock her work. So do many local and independent gift shops.

If you're looking for a genuinely special gift or just want to treat yourself to something beautiful for your home, this is it. 🧡

📣 WORTH SHOUTING ABOUT: Edinburgh Coworking spots.

N.B. Just lost 10 mins on Google trying to figure out the correct spelling for coworking (vs Co working vs Co-working!)

Community Coworking right by the sea in Portobello. Over 150 members, including freelancers, creatives, social entrepreneurs, charities and small businesses, all working together under one roof. Hot desks, permanent desks, private studios and offices available. Five minutes from the Promenade with the beach on your doorstep. This is what coworking should feel like. 🧡

Edinburgh's original coworking space and one of the best in the city. Membership, hot desking, private offices, virtual office services and room hire are all available. A space built around good ideas, good people and genuine social impact. 🧡

A different kind of coworking space. Calm desks and clear focus inside the Edinburgh International Climbing Arena, with Lost Shore Surf Resort right next door for a perfect active lunch break. Free parking, free coffee and 10 minutes from Edinburgh Airport. Work hard, then go climbing! A day pass costs £20 and a free trial day is available. 🧡

A curated coworking community for creatives, innovators and entrepreneurs in the heart of Leith. High design workspaces, 24/7 access, 1GB wifi, private and open plan studios, a garden, zoom room, green room, workshop and lounge. Built for people who take their work seriously and want to be surrounded by others who do too. 🧡

That's your lot for this week! 🧡

Abby and I genuinely love putting this together for you every week. The fact that you read it (all the way to the end!!), share it and support it means the world to both of us.

Our Newsletter is a place to shine a spotlight on the many brilliant local businesses on our doorstep and to keep you in the loop on local events and what’s happening in and around Edinburgh.
